The internal diameter of the neck controls neck tension. The alignment of the inner surface of the neck controls concentricity. The Superior Precision Neck Sizer ensures that the internal diameter is what you want it to be and makes it concentric with the case shoulder.
The Superior Precision Neck Sizer is a bushing style sizer that comes with 2 die that are used in a two step process. First, the shrinking die reduces the outside diameter of the neck. Then, the expanding die increases the inside diameter of the neck while ensuring that the internal surface is concentric with the case shoulder. The expander die will be sized to produce a neck ID of .001" less than the bullet diameter unless you ask us to do something different.
The die do not float in the sizer shell like they do in other bushing type sizers. The die are perfectly aligned to the sizer shell with a conical interface and are rigidly held in place. The spring is there to ensure that the case shoulder is made concentric with the axis of the die before the resizing process begins.
The Superior Precision Neck Sizer is made of stainless steel and is designed for reloading presses that use a 1 ¼ - 13 thread. Cartridges larger than 338 Lapua may need a larger thread.
We strongly recommend that you clean the case, resize the body, then anneal and chamfer the case neck before using the Neck Sizer. Unlike most other reloading tools the Neck Sizer has moving parts. The clearance between these parts is very small. To ensure a long useful life the Sizer must be used in a clean environment, cleaned regularly, and lightly lubricated.
